5 Packaging ideas for Online eCommerce Brands

packaging ideas
Packaging your product may seem like just another part of the delivery mechanism. But sometimes it is all the difference between a product and a brand. When it comes to building a brand - spending time on packaging pays off quite well. Think of it, most of the customer craze of having something delivered to the place comes from the “unboxing” part of it. There is a reason that there are now channels dedicated to removing the wrappers and opening the boxes of things. Perhaps, it was not so a decade ago. But, with packaging design becoming easy, and design standards established with services like Lumi, it is not very difficult to go the extra step and give your brand a personality.

Packaging your product may seem like just another part of the delivery mechanism. But sometimes it is all the difference between a product and a brand. When it comes to building a brand – spending time on packaging pays off quite well.

And what is a brand after all, if it has no personality?

This week we bring you five brands that have crafted a unique personality through their packaging. We hope this gives you a gentle push to notch-up you the perceived value of your brand with better packaging experience. Here we go.

Vitruvi

Vitruvi is a brand that sells essential oils and diffusers and they understand that a nice packaging makes the product unlock higher value. The entire packaging range comes in a solid white box with a cardboard sleeve wrapped around the box.

What we loved about the packaging

The sheer simplicity of a premium brand creation and the understanding that a good packaging plays in it. And, the packaging is sturdy and pretty – you just won’t be able to throw the box. It is definitely going to find a place in your dresser.

Saie

A playful make-up brand that understands that it has to make a place in a very crowded market. Saie (pronounced as the word – Say) has taken a methodical approach towards standing out as a makeup brand by focusing on sustainability and yet keeping the brand joysome.

What we loved it for

The amount of detail blended in the simplicity of the packaging. The beautiful lilac-colored box opens to reveal a black interior and full detailed instructions on what to reuse, and what to recycle. To finally dispose of the items, it even gives their email address where buyers can contact them. Now that’s what we call true ethos.

The Black Tux

When you ship suits and tuxedos online, how do you package that? We all know how difficult it can be to pack one while travelling. The Black Tux seems to have figured it out. The box is a big one, but it comes in such a nifty and slim packaging that you won’t feel its size to be an issue at all.

What we loved it for

The form factor and the neatness with which they send you a suit. The suit is single-folded and hangs inside the box on a hanger while you hold the box vertically, using a handle provided on the outside. Some things are simply crafted for good experiences!

Dôen

A Women’s Fashion Brand with a strong take on sustainability, Dôen’s package comes with just the right amount of frills. Starts with the standard brown box and in it is the beautiful cardboard box with taping which is specifically designed for the brand. A magnetic latching of the flaps opens to reveal your clothing items lying adorned in by that very box. A small photo which shows the outfit and a poem for stirring your spirit.

What we loved it for.

That box is not going anywhere. Trust us, you will end up storing the important memorabilia of your life in it. What a great way to have your fondest memories linked with the brand.

M.M. LaFleur

Richness is exemplified in the packaging and the boxing of this clothing brand. You open a cardboard box, which has a cut-in handle so that you can simply carry without seeking extra bags. You open it and find a inserted cardboard tray for your accessories and your clothes neatly wrapped in a zip-locked silky plastic bag. It is the kind of bag which is going to be in use again and again.

What we loved it for.

A small note which is personal and a booklet about women and their stories. A very small text inside the box says “Why are you reading this? You must be extremely detail oriented. That’s what we like about you.” Way to put a smile on your face!
