German Kabirski is a jewellery brand known for doing things differently. Their designs are bold, unconventional, and unmistakably artistic. The brand has a strong identity and a loyal audience that values individuality over mass-produced luxury.

But despite having standout products and a recognisable name, their website wasn’t performing the way it should.

That’s where we came in.

 

The Situation

When German Kabirski approached us, they were dealing with two major issues: low conversion rates and a slow website. Visitors were browsing the collection, but too many were dropping off before completing a purchase.

A deeper review revealed that performance was suffering due to a combination of factors. The site relied heavily on third-party apps, which slowed things down, especially on mobile. At the same time, the client was clear that they didn’t want to redesign or rewrite the entire theme. Any improvements had to be made within the existing Shopify framework.

So the challenge wasn’t just improving conversions—it was doing so without starting from scratch.

 

Our Approach

Instead of pushing for a full redesign, we started with a detailed CRO and performance audit. The goal was to understand where users were getting stuck, what was slowing the site down, and which changes would have the biggest impact with the least disruption.

We focused on removing friction, improving clarity, and making the site faster—without altering the brand’s visual language or overengineering the solution.

 

What We Changed (And Why)

  • One of the first things we helped introduce was a made-to-order feature. German Kabirski’s customers care deeply about uniqueness, so allowing them to customise jewellery pieces added a layer of personal connection and increased engagement on product pages.
  • We also improved product discovery by implementing custom filters. Previously, finding the right piece required too much effort. With better filtering, users could quickly narrow down options and move closer to a purchase decision.
  • To guide new visitors, we added a best-seller carousel on key pages. Highlighting popular pieces reduced hesitation and helped users discover products that already had strong demand.
  • Trust was another important factor. We introduced a press and media section to showcase coverage and brand recognition. For a high-consideration category like jewellery, this helped reassure visitors that they were buying from an established and respected brand.
  • On the technical side, we focused heavily on code optimisation. Rather than adding more apps, we cleaned up the existing theme code and reduced dependency on unnecessary third-party tools. This alone led to noticeable improvements in page load times and overall site responsiveness.
  • Finally, we validated our changes through A/B testing using VWO. We tested key touchpoints across both desktop and mobile—such as layout tweaks, CTA placement, and content hierarchy—and rolled out improvements incrementally based on real user behaviour. Several of these tests resulted in clear lifts in click-through rates on product and collection pages.

 

The Results

  • The combined impact of these changes was significant.
  • Conversion rates increased as more visitors completed their purchases
  • Page load speeds improved, particularly on mobile
  • Bounce rates dropped as users spent more time exploring the site
  • Engagement on product pages went up, leading to stronger overall performance

All of this was achieved without a full redesign or theme rewrite.

German Kabirski didn’t need a new brand, a flashy redesign, or more tools layered on top of an already complex setup.

They needed focus.

By addressing conversion issues and performance bottlenecks together—and by working within real-world constraints – we helped unlock growth that was already there.
